Default Battery cable switch for 46 Ford

I curently have the stock set up with braided cable for positive ground. I would like to get the shutoff switch but put it on the negative cable which go's to solenoid but everything I find is for the positive terminal which would prob be too large. I am happy with braided metal pos cable.
Can I clamp ohe of these switches tight enough on the negative terminal to have a good circuit? Any advice is appreciated, thanks

Get a Cole Hersee disconnect switch and put it in the ground cable so you can reach it from the drivers seat. Bill

Never heard of Cole Hersee but I agree with having the cut off switch within easy reach of the driver. If you need it in a hurry, lifting the battery cover will take too long especially since you guys would have to exit the car and dodge the steering wheel.

Are you talking about one of those disconnects that clamps to the battery post ? If so, forget about it. [smiley face]

As mentioned, install a good high amp marine type switch within easy reach. Its best in the ground line, but, will work on either.

Can you fix the battery drain issue?

Putting the battery disconnect in line w/the ground cable is usually considered the prudent way to do it. Some people disagree and support putting it inline w/the ungrounded cable.

Is there a draw issue ? Hmm, didn't know that. But in that case, the draw should be fixed.

I've read of lots of horror stories about the battery post mounted disconnects. I've used them on various vehicles over the years and never had a problem w/them.

And if always used correctly could be fine forever, almost.

But they are hard to get at, I think. And I think some leave the contact loose which leads to the problems. JMHO.

Hard to get at on a Model A unless the floor boards are modified, but not so hard on a '46 Ford, just open the hood and it's right there on the RH side of the firewall.
