Default 1939 Rear Brake Drums

The rear wide 5 brake drums on my 39 Sedan are not usable. Is there a good quality aftermarket source for these drums?

thank you
Patrick

I think your best bet would to find some good used ones that haven’t been turned too much. Shipping may cost as much as the drums.

Yep, I look for these daily. I am wondering if they are reproduced and if so, the quality.

Not repopped to the best of my knowledge.
Might consider having yours relined.

I've never seen aftermarket/reproduction wide 5 brake drums available anywhere, but keep in mind during your search for good used drums that you're not limited to finding just good used '39 "rear" drums, as '36, '37, and '38 "rear" drums will also work.

I understand 36 are wrong, I can’t recall why. I know somehow some of mine are different, may look into machining or making inserts for oversized drums. I plan to study this as soon as I get above water. Wide 5’s grew on me so I think all my V8 projects will be such, like Mercury and 38 hubcaps

Do some research, I think you'll find '36 "rear" drums are not wrong and will work fine. You may be thinking about '36 "front" drums being one year only, and will not work on '37 thru '39.

I've got 36 drums on my 36 with a 40 rear end in it. I have some 36-39 drums that have a different seal OD. Bill
