Default Valve guides

Haven’t had an A motor very much apart yet, some must know, were the V8 split guides the same as model A? I have a ton of mushroom stem valves and guides, and 2 motors that may need some. Thanks

OK so I will fish a couple out of the loose motor I have & take with tomorrow. My dad is working on one in south Florida, not many resources there.

Here are pictures of the Model "A" & Model "B" valve parts (left) plus the Flathead V8 parts (right). They are not the same.

Most people convert over to modern valves and adjustable lifters, available at the suppliers. The two wrench adjustable lifters are easier to adjust.

1941 Flathead 6-cyl. Ford intake valves have been used in A's, they are 1/8" bigger than A valves. '41 was the only year that they had 5/16 stems.

There are some John Deere valves that can be machined to fit any model A application. They have 5/16 chrome stems.
The stems will need to be cut off, regrooved and the heads machined to the required diameter.

Bingo! I always wondered about a box of these that I inherited - identical in dimension to Model A/B valves but with a 1/8 inch wider valve head. Per Jim Brierley they are intakes from a 1941 Ford 6-cylinder.
