Default identify a 50 block

I'm building a 59-engine bored .100 with a 4" stroke Scat crank. I noticed the block is factory relieved. I think it was a truck block. I also found this number cast into the block. I have never seen one with this type of marking? look at the photo does the prefix C indicate a Canadian built engine?

Your block is a 59 series of American manufacture between 1945 and 1948. The other letters and numbers near the large 59 are of no significance in identifying the block.

Thanks it's a factory relieved block, I thought the C possibly meant made in Canada ? I have three other 50 blocks and none of them have that prefix and number on them. 59A block does not have that on it? Frank

As stated above, blocks with 59 on them are not 50 blocks. 49-53 blocks have the bell housing that bolts to the block, not cast as part of the block like the 59 series units.

The pipe plug location in the upper left corner of the picture looks a little different than the 59 A & l s that I have had.
