Default 8ba fuel pump

I have a 8ba in a model A. The firewall is recessed for clearance, the stock glass bowl fuel pump won't clear the firewall. Did Ford make a 8ba pump with no glass bowl?

Have you tried "clocking" the bowl? You remove the 6 screws holding it together and then assembling the two parts in a position that will fit. There are earlier [pumps with no bowl that can probably be made to fit. It might take some mixin' and matchin' parts and a different pushrod, though. I have never had to do this so I don't know for sure.

I think 34 didn't have a bowl. What ever is on my 46 does not have a bowl.

I believe 46 was the first year that should have had the glass bowl. They were a universal replacement in years to come.

Since the diaphragm bolt pattern are the same you can use the lower part that fits the 8BA pumptower and the upper part from a pump without the glassbowl to.
There are non ford AC pumps with the glassbowl centered on top also as an option.

Yes, I remember my dad had one of those vertical bowl fuel pumps on the 52 Merc for a while. I've still got it but somebody damaged the threads on the fuel inlet.
