Default '31 slant window loose door shafts

Am looking for suggestions to tighten up the inside door shafts that many experience becoming loose from using the handle as a door pull. The vendors sell the complete latch jamb and triangular mechanism but no apparent repair parts for the shafts. Our handles fit fine on the shafts that are loose.

Are you sure the remote is not bad or the spring inside it is not broken? The remote spring is available but assembly has to come out of car.
If it is just the square and the shaft having too much play you could just skim it a bit. But you says that’s not the case
I can’t think of another quick fix with the remote in the car; removal is painful.
If it were out of the car you could put a spot with a mig welder and grind till tight fit
I’ve rebuild those latches for years and suspect there’s more going on as noted above in this writing

I had this condition on my Coupe. To remove the play, I made a brass bushing out of tubing. Split the bushing if necessary. You can slide a bushing onto the shaft and into the sheet metal supporting the shaft. Secure the bushing in place with a thread locking compound or epoxy adhesive.

Thanks Bob, good idea. I have some thin wall brass tubing from ACE hardware that probably would work. All the lock springs work great with sharp clicks, just the front doors have the most wear where the shaft enters the triangular support plate..

Coupe and slant completely different set up
If the male and female square fit (which you said above they did) the remote assembly is the problem. Does the handle hold in the lock position?

This is where the issue is. The handle holds well in lock pos. The shaft or bushing appears worn in the tri. plate

Surprisingly I haven’t seen much of that. I’ve probably rebuilt a 100 of them. Usually the spring is broken or just missing (fell out after breaking)
Likely the only good answer is removal. And a major pain as the door panel has to come off and the latch come out. Can get by without removing window reg usually!!!
I likely have one if you want to go to the pain to remove.
I have lots of latch parts too.
