Just got a new neoprene gasket and screen for my glass sediment bowl. Does the screen go to the glass side or to the top? i'm asking because Mikes catalog says gasket , screen , glass and Bratton's says screen ,gasket ,then glass. There was no screen when i took it off. Thanks

Screen on top, then the gasket next to the glass.

The way I did mine was , put the screen up into the recessed area in the top then the gasket , then the bowl , with the bale holding in place . Worked for me .

I put the screen in first then the gasket,I would lose the rubber one and use a good cork one. OMO. ken ct.

I agree with the cork gashet. The other one will expand and it will not fit once it gets gas (crapgas) on it.

The screen fits into a recessed area in the housing. The cork gasket goes in next and is wide enough to hold the screen in place. Is the neoprene gasket wide enough to do that?

I agree with the cork gasket. The neopreme ones are only good for one use and they swell up. I make my own with a sheet of cork gasket material and cut it out using two different sizes of exhaust pipe shapened on the end. I use them like a cookie cutter, works great.

I agree with the order of screen, gasket and then bowl but disagree with the cork gasket. I used to be a cork gasket fan because the neoprene always swelled up. I have found that the bowl gaskets that NAPA sells do not swell up. I assume they are neoprene but I really don't know what they are mad of. They are a black, rubber like material but they do not swell up like others I have used. I always have them on hand now and refuse to put in anything else when working on a fuel bowl. Just my two cents.

I agree 100% about the rubber gasket NOT being the best choice! Yesterday, I was in the basement and thought that I would do a little fine tuning on one of my Model A's that had been parked for about 6 months. I had installed a brand new repro rubber gasket in the sediment bowl just before parking the A.

First thing I noticed when I raised the hood was that the glass bowl was only 3/4 full of gas. The gas looked like black paint. When I removed the glass bowl to clean out the old gas the rubber gasket puffed out and looked like a black marshmallow. I replaced the swollen/dissolved rubber gasket with a cork version that I had in my traveling parts kit. I think some of the Model A guys will have a big surprise when they try to get their Model A's and other old cars with rubber fuel line parts out of storage in the spring.
