More evidence I need to completey rewire. I count 4 generations of farmerfixes. There's also a modern red wire going to the ignition switch that doesn't show in the picture. It's just as bad as the others. I took a better pic, but for some reason it won't upload

Why the decision to go to 12 volts?

If your heart is set on the hidden fuse block route, may I suggest that you look into using the original style wire that is available from the vendors, using that style and wire in the fuse block.

It's your car to do with as you please.
Hi Mike, Yeah, I guess rodders do it all the time. What I have in mind is something more subtle than what I typically see on hot rods.

I am considering the reproduction wire, but I need to investigate the quality versus price.

Why 12V? Several reasons:

1. I'm a displaced Coloradan living in Texas. If I can ever afford an A/C install, I'll get more use out of the car.

2. For lights, turn signals, etc, I hope to move to 12V using common components available at any walmart. Same for battery and alternator. Especially given that I'm going to rewire the entire car, front to back, anyway.

But I'm still working through it, so questions like yours help me think out loud.

Thanks

I re-wired my Chevy using a kit from AmericanAutoWire, it worked out great, made to order for you year, make, model car. Was fairly easy too.
I'll be doing my '31 soon but with it being such a basic layout (6V) I'll do it all myself,
But if you want sure fire, updated and easy you may want to give them a looksee.

They appear to be Chebby only.
