I left the side hood rods in place and used small bungy cords . I hooked one end of the bungy cord to the back side of the side hood hinge rod and the other end of the bungy hook in a hole in the frame. I use a bungy cord at front and rear sides. I don't like the look of the leather straps that some use. Bungy cords does the job well and isn't that noticeable

I just used a rubber bungie cord, as the guy above me said. It holds it pretty well. Im going to throw a second one in there since at about 65mph the hood starts moving lol
