Default Classic Cars at Classic Buildings

Let's see your classic cars in front of classic buildings. Tell us what the building is, where the building is, what you were doing there, and maybe even a link to learn more about it. Maybe we'll want to go there too.

Here are a couple of mine for starters:

The Old Abandoned Garage in Pioche, Nevada April 2010 road trip.
http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/nv/pioche.html

Horseshoe Mountain Pottery in Historic Spring City, Utah February 2010 road trip.
http://sanpete.com/tours/7-spring-city-0-9-mb

Old Sinclair Garage in Elberta, Utah population 383 January 2008 road trip.
http://www.city-data.com/city/Elberta-Utah.html

Manti House Inn (my great grandfather's home) in Manti, Utah Valentine's Day 2009 road trip.
http://mantihouseinn.com/

Salt Lake Stock & Mining Exchange Building on the set of "Inspector 42" filming March 2009.
About the building: http://content.lib.utah.edu/cdm4/ite...r&CISOPTR=8122
About the movie: http://www.inspector42.com/Inspector42_/Main.html (Find my car in the splash screen and preview.)

NOTE: A lot of these trips were in the snow! LOVE IT!

This is my 35 pickup parked in a Texaco station, located in Uxbridge, Ma. on West Hartford Ave. The station is hard to find being that it sits back off the main road.
It makes for a great photo shoot for old car buffs. Drive up and ask the owner.

This is a picture of my 1940 Ford deluxe, 4 door. The gas station was restored in my little town Of Stover, Mo. My plans were to make Christmas cards of this picture. This a great place to take pics.

Here is our 65 GTO in front of our town's old gas station.
The guy who owns it sells old gas pumps and signs. Hampshire, Illinois 60140
If you click on the pic, there is the interior of our 38 Chevy pickup,
and the inside of an old barn I found full of old car fenders and parts.

Old Henry. It's nice to see a beautiful old 4 door for a change. These were the staple car coming out of FOMOCO down here is New Zealand in the late 40's. We only got those and coupes, but the 4 doors were far more common. for too long these majestic looking cars have been overlooked. you got far more variety of body styles in the "home of Ford".

When I returned to my home town with the newly restored "Merlot" last summer we posed beside; Burgess stand at the Leamington dock; In front of the Jiimaan ferry to Pelee Island in Lake Erie; at the foot of the water tower, at Leamington (home of Heinz Canada, where I worked when I first bought him); and in front of my former home. This was the first time my truck had been "Home" in fifty years.

Graeme, Thanks for the kind words about Fordors. It is true that, as common as they were in their day, I see very few any more, even at car shows. They don't seem to be as popular to collect and restore as those with less seating capacity. In fact, if I had decided in my old age to buy and restore a car, I probably wouldn't have chosen this one. But, this is not a restored collector's item, this is a preserved family heirloom that my dad bought 51 years ago and I learned to drive in 43 years ago and has been in the family ever since. I like it cause I can load it with friends or family (I have 10 children and 19 going on 21 grandchildren) and head for Sonic for a shake or cruise. When I was 10 my 5 year old brother even opened the suicide door while we were going and was sucked out, under the door and rolled down the road. Just scrapes and bruises but we learned early about the suicide nature of those back doors.

Thanks again for your comments.

Here's another shot in front of one of the quaint restored swiss style homes in Midway, Utah. http://www.homesteadresort.com/

Henry, isn't Midway a great little town? I don't have any photos of my Fords there, because quite frankly they'd never make it. But I do have a photo from a trip to Utah we took in another old car. I don't know if the building has any significance but it was still neat.

Today I drove to Wallsburg, if you know what a quaint little mountain village that is, and picked up my 85 year old dad, who bought "Old Henry" 51 years ago, as I do once a month, and took him to Midway for lunch. He seems more thrilled every time he rides in "Old Henry." That restored swiss style home in the previous picture is across the street from where we eat.

Since quaint gas stations seem popular, here's one that's been restored in Pleasant Grove, Utah. See how many "nostalgia" pieces you can find.

Wait, I do have some Ford photos! My car isn't in them because it was parked out of frame.

First we have Rancho Camarillo. It's a late 1890's Victorian-style ranch estate here in the LA area. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camarillo_Ranch_House

The other one I dug up is The Stagecoach Inn, circa 1876, about 15 miles from the previous photo. This building was rebuilt on it's current location after a fire, and an old schoolhouse also from the era is now located on the property.
