Re: serial numbers
Maybe somebody thought that the star that precedes the vin on the frame looked like a G.

Re: serial numbers
are you sure that's not a "C" ?
i have a canadian `32 and the serial # has the letter "C" before the 18-D### and the letter D is not on american made cars either, i've been told that's the month it was made. |

Re: serial numbers
no telling what the dmv could have done previous to your title.
i sold a real nice `55 chevy convertible a few years ago here in illinois. with a good clear title. that i had owned for 28 years. when the dmv transfered the title to the new owner, it came back with the body style blank, (says nothing where the body style should be). and they changed one of the serial numbers. isn't that just swell? |

As you will note from the Western New York Regional Group website, the letter following the 18 in a Canadian engine number prefix is not in an alphabetic sequence nor are twelve letters used in any given model year, therefore it is not indicative of the month of the engine's manufacture. David |

Re: serial numbers
I have a May production 33 4D that has 40 instead of 18 also . This is talked about in the V-8 club book . Also have another 33 that has 18- on the tranny but not on the frame . Frame has star - serial and then 2 stars . Serial matches and I have seen this before . I have a canadian 34 serial star C-18P- and then a four digit serial # followed by another star . Tranny is the same . . I don't think canadian cars used a long # like yours . The G thing is probably like stated above - a DMV screwup from the past . David J

Re: serial numbers
Page 2-5 in the EFV-8 Club book on 33-34's talks about this and also the omission of the " 18 " on some cars . As I posted above I have examples of both . David J
