Default Side-view mirrors in factory/early photos

I have an older clymer book with some factory and early photos in the back, and looking through them nearly none of the cars have side view mirrors.

Were they something that came about later?

I know of some 60's-70's cars that would only have one side view mirror from the factory, but just wondered what the history of them was in the A era.

Ford supplied one mirror per vehicle. The only models with side mirrors were the Deluxe Roadster, Deluxe Phaeton, and all commercial models including Station Wagon. The only side mirrors available for closed models were commercial mirrors. They tend to look a bit out of place on passenger cars!

But I saw a NOS mirror for a closed car on eBay recently still in the box!! The lettering on the box (-which said Vintique) was still legible!

According to the Seller, it came out of an old Ford dealership so therefore they did make them and it is RARE!!

BTW, you got Noah out in the shop educating him on NOS vs. Repro yet?

Naw, but I think he'll be ready for a ride when "Roadster weather" returns.

Brent, it is quite obvious that 'Vintique' was a period 'sub-supplier' to the Ford Motor Company in the 1928-32 period. I believe they were still in business as late as the 1990's. I even see them mentioned often on FORUM posts.

(Please - let no one think that the above is a REAL fact ! ) . Sometimes sarcasm can be dangerously misconstrued.
