Default Anybody know what this box is?

This was bolted to a makeshift trailer hitch on the back of my Tudor when I bought it in 1991. It's been in my attic ever since. Anyone know what it was originally designed to do? There's a manufacturer's logo on the bottom of the lid that has been painted over.

That looks to me to be a car fridge with the insides stripped out.

I agree with Synchro909. The galvanized buckets are probably for ice.

I'll throw in with Bob and Synchro, looks like an old ice cooler, made before Styrofoam was invented. We used to have an old steel Coke cooler from the early 50s. The inside was galvanized.

Yup...cooler for sure. Have/had on very close to it although much smaller. it was factory finished in gold paint and had also had a factory decal. Mine was from the 50s.
