Grease polling

I have read through a lot on the subject of greases in the search and have come to this conclusion:

Front wheel bearings - Mystik JT-6 High Temp

Rear wheel bearings - Sta Lube Drum/Brake Grease SL3131 from NAPA

Universal Joint - Cornhead grease from John Deer

Any comments from the Board.

NLGI # 2 grease should take care of it all (general grade with good consistency for bearings) well proven in all those points listed.

This is the most common grease you will find in your local parts house

I would use JD cornhead grease on the u joint, do a search on this site there have been many long listings on this issue.

I like Mystik JT-6 High Temp for all. From experience I would avoid Mobil 1 synthetic grease because the oil separates from the base/fiber/binder way too quickly (as in sitting on your bench) and I have yet to detect any oil separation (in use or in sitting) from Mystik JT-6 High Temp. The oil is what lubricates, and if it all leaks out you have no lubrication.

On all 4 wheel bearings, I use ONLY a quality brand of High Temperature Disc Brake wheel bearing grease!! Ordinary inexpensive BRAND X wheel bearing grease or general purpose chassis grease won't cut it! (TRUST ME!!) I've seen MANY failures. Bill W.

Appears over time that:

A. Thinner oil leaks out of the thick grease in many grease guns, thus causing a very messy & greasy situation, especially if one carries an unwrapped grease gun in one's vehicle.

B. We also witness that petroleum thinners in grease evaporate into the atmosphere.

According to a few discussions on some of the other vehicle Forums, (for more modern vehicles), a few have been bragging on the advertised "Green Grease" which is:

A. Supposed to be more stable than our regular advertised grease gun products.

B. Supposed to not be messy & leak out when placed in a grease gun manufactured by "Green Grease".

Just wondering if anyone:

a) Experienced any differences when using "Green Grease"; and/or,

b) Experienced any differences when using "Green Grease" grease guns; and/or,

c) Can explain if "Green Grease" is really chemically different & far more stable than other grease products on the market.
