Default Dropped axel

I need advice on putting a drop axel under my 29. The forum is where I always get sound advice. I have mechanical brakes which I want to keep I have most of the parts for the change the only thing I’m unsure of is the amount of axel drop for this change 2” or 4” ? And the front spring mono leaf or reversed eye. Thanks Jerry

I went with a 2" dropped stock axle and a reverse eye spring

A reverse-eye spring will lower the car about 1&1/2", so get the axle that will lower it as you want. There may be some alignment issues with the brake mechanism, the axle will be lower than before in relation to the king pin. A spacer can be made.

My avatar picture has a 4" dropped axle and a stock spring. You will also have to make some stands for your brake actuator if you are going to run mechanical brakes. Just my 2 1/2 cents.

I have a 4" drop axle with a reversed eye spring. make sure that when you have the axle dropped it also needs to be stretched to the stock width. If not then you end up shortening the tie rod.

Lots of problems with the tie rod even with a 1.5" drop unless you can use later stub axles for which dropped steering arms are available. There appear to be no dropped steering arms made for the Model A stub axles?
