1931 Deluxe Delivery
I just purchased and hoping to getting it roll on its own next month. Anyway, is there any reference manuals or how to stuff on the delivery van? I am having issues with the back door. I don't know it the hinge attached to the frame is to have a slight bend or should it be flat and when the 2 pieces are together when the door is shut should be flat. Mine has a bend. So I don't know it the hinge was sprung out of place, or this might be as it should be.

Re: 1931 Deluxe Delivery
The hinge should be flat. I suspect the rear door wood is weak, and the hinge has been bent to compensate for it. There is very little reference material available for this body outside of the Benson Library. Only experience of those who previously restored one.

Re: 1931 Deluxe Delivery
The two I've worked on had more wood than is shown in this pic of an original door. Anyway you can lighten the door, will be beneficial. The metal uprights are something I had not seen until this door. I would even consider some holes in the wide boards to lighten. The lower rear hinge is too long for the stock it is mad from IMHO
BTW, I have more pics of this original delivery than you can believe If it would be helpful [email protected] |
