Default Original owners manual vs. reproduction

About to possibly purchase an original (?) 1928 owners manual.
Anyone know an easy way to tell the difference an original from a reproduction?
Is $50 the going rate for an original owners manual (if condition is good)?
Thanks for anyones help!
