Default Paint Color

Can some one tell me if French Gray is light or Dark. I was told my cars wheels and stripe are French Gray. I have been told it is to light to be French Gray.
Thanks
Ed

IIRC, "French Gray" is the lightest of '28-'29 grays.

In your avatar pic, your wheels appear to be in the "French Gray" vicinity... they are definitely lighter and "grayer" than the other two grays: Dawn Grey Light, and Dawn Grey Dark ( which both have a green-ish tone to them ).

Do you have a copy of the "Paint & Finish Guide" ? This is the generally accepted "Bible" of color/application for the '28-'31 Ford, and also has exellent paint chips.

Of course, monitors are not to be trusted for color match.

Also lighting when the picture is taken makes a huge difference. I shot two pictures of an orange color and one picture was in the shade while the other was in the sun, or one is with flash and the other not, (I don't recall which) but they are two completely different oranges.

Absolutely, Tom. Color temperature has such an impact to the human eye.
For example, look at the photos of the same vehicle with Tacoma Cream wheels.
One at night with flash and streetlights, the other, bright sunlight.

The night shot looks like Apple Green.
