The 2 component RTVs/urethanes that V8coopman mentioned are a good solution. These are commonly use in aircraft components that see high vibration. The key is to have clean parts and to de-gas the material before and after pouring. De-gassing removes any trapped air from mixing. If you go this way it is important that the parts are fixtured concentric and square. If the assembly is not done carefully you will have an out of balance condition.

Chuck. that's one option I'm considering, I haven't really had time to take a good look at the fan hub assembly as yet, after the holiday I'll get back into the garage and take a closer look. Vic

The Lincoln fan assembly as described sounds like a '40 Ford fan assembly. When mine developed some looseness I removed the fan & drilled the hub & installed four 1/4" nuts & bolts to compress the hub/fan together.
I was concerned with the fan getting loose enough to get into the radiator. A couple of thousand miles later it still works fine.

I took some better photos of the '39 LZ fan hub assembly because a picture is worth a thousand words and these photos should clearly show the assembly. I'm still open for ideas or, if someone has a good '39 LZ fan hub assembly they would like to sell...

It looks like the only thing holding the fan to the hub is the rubber section. If the fan came completely loose it may fall back into the belts. It doesn't look like it could go forward towards the radiator. You probably want to do a fix ASAP. GE and Dow make some good 2 par castable urethanes that will work for that. I'll dig up some specific info and get it to you.

Thanks Chuck, I appreciate that. The fan can't go back because of the harmonic balancer; there is very little room for movement forward or backward. As far as I can tell, the rubber cushion is an additional vibration dampener and serves no other purpose.

Seems like you could cut one out of a piece of heavy duty rubber & glue it in place. Aren't there bolts holding that together? If not I would add a few. From what I can visualize the flat washer shaped piece has a shoulder that fits into the fan hub. Am I correct? Then everything is sandwiched together. Just thinkin here & that is generally bad.

B-O-B, that's pretty much exactly what it is, the rubber is just to ease the vibrations, it doesn't do anything structural that I can see...

McMaster-Carr sells machinable urethane rubber in different durometer hardness that you might use to repair the hub.
