Easy question this time. What is the factory engine color for a 49 Ford F1 pickup? I'm restoring one and I'm trying to get things right.

According to Vanpelts it would have been red.

just painted my 51f1 truck engine ,toned the red down a bit by mixing a bit of black in it ,its now more red/ maroon ,its not a show truck so it just suits my eyes more ,cheers jim.

I keep going back and forth between the original red and black.

Thanks guys........got another question.......would anyone know a NAPA part number for a tail shaft (tranny) seal .....49 F1 three speed? I'm going to post the question new ....just in case this post is to old

I don't offhand, but NAPA knows it. I put one in my 48 heavy duty 3 spd (T87D) just a couple of years ago.
