Replacing trans rear seal ?
It wont be long and I will try replacing the seal[s] in the clams of my 39 trans, seems to be where most of the leaking is. How is this best done, any tips? Do I just unbolt it all and work around it, [take it I don't need to remove the shaft etc] replace the cork gasket and others I can get too?
Anything I can check while at it? Thanks..

Re: Replacing trans rear seal ?
I ordered this seal "made of space age material" from Hot Rod John on E-Bay using the online name " Plain Jane" for $10.00. Boy, was I surprised when it turned out to be a piece of vacuum hose. However I think it is a winner as it is round, thick and pliable and when I use it I think it will work very well. However I think this should be under the heading "great tip" and not a $10.00 plus postage make money kind of deal...Just go buy it at the auto store yourself!.....Matt in Alameda
