Default new "old" guy...a "whats it worth" question

Hi new ol guy from southern MI....hate to start out with a question....but found a 24 T runabout/roadster in Northern MI....it starts....but needs front cross member, radiator, front end work, top, upholstery..could maybe be original paint, appears to be 95% complete...and of course rust...question is what is is worth?

again sorry to start out with a question....never owned a T but always wanted one

Hey welcome. Hard to say without a look at a picture or two. Is there an ask price? Sounds like your words don't give it more than maybe three. Anything can be fixed, but front cross member is WORK. If you're into it, frames in various conditions show up from time to time. Might be better than dealing with rivets. Also would get you thru every inch of restore. Others will answer with different opinions. Action on this site is a little slow. Guys will be along. You might check with local club members (they are around) to give a look see. Look up MTFCI MTFCA AACA HCCA AND Hemmings Motor News for a local appraisal.

Appraisers are about worthless unless they specifically know the Model T market, they tend to appraise using the high end auction prices rather then true current fair market value for the condition of the car. Without photos and more info on the running gear etc, not much we can help you with as far as value.

Based only on your description, without seeing any details or the overall condition, I'll guess two to four grand.

Thanks for the replies, the hunt for a T continues.this one is gone...Don't know what it went for, I was figuring a fair price would have been 3000-3500...should have went with my gut feeling...(probably wouldn't have got it for that anyhow, he was asking 6000.00)

Pretty familiar with 50's -70's cars/pricing...but needed a little advice on this one.

thanks again...

You did the absolutely correct thing. From what you describe he didn't get $6 anyway. Your price range is about where I'd be. Towards the lower end actually. Look at anything that comes up but keep in mind what you want. Another of my rules: No title no sale.

If you really want one be patient. The right one will come along. There are a lot of T's ready for new homes and not as many buyers as we would like. Also lots of good advise as those above have given.

Good find! Is that in Petoskey?

I too am from SE MI. But closer to Dearborn, in Wayne.

Congrats!

Nice! Top bows to! Lens's appear to be purple, one of my favorites.

Especially for your first T, you want this: http://dauntlessgeezer.com/DG80.html. Some of the other pages on the site may be helpful too.
