Default Identiy type of machine screw 46 woodie door handle

Ok, on the front doors of the woodies 46-48 there is a small hole on the INSIIDE of door that is inline with the outside door handle shaft. A small machine screw 10-32 with a long slotted head inserts into hole and screws ihto back of door handle shaft. What are these fasteners called so I can find one and buy it? Person that replated my parts lost one,I need another. thanks!

If it is a Round head like this, let me have the length and I "most" likely have one in stock in Stainless Steel, I will polish the head for you and send you "One".

Tried taking pics and sending but no luck. The head on this type fastener is nearly as long as threaded portion. I think early 30's fords may have used this style of bolt on door handles also

Post a pic of the one you still have. It would help a lot.
We both posted at once.

these are the other two commercially available types of head I can think of that it could possibly be IF not a Round, Flat or Oval head. IF its not one of these then its a "special" make screw!!!!

Cheese head is the only other style and between the cheese head and Fillister head its splitting hairs!!!! IF its not a cheese or fillister your SOL. unless you find someone here on the barn that has that particular screw

Various earlier inside door handles were secured with nickel-plated #10-32 pan head screws.

What you are describing sounds like a shoulder screw. You might try McMaster-Carr.com to see if you can find a size that works for you. The only one I found without a head is only available in metric threads.

Thread size=10-32, shoulder diameter=?, shoulder length=?

https://www.mcmaster.com/screws/shoulder-screws/

P.S. it looks like for a 10-32 screw the shoulder diameter will be 1/4" from McMaster-Carr.

What you have pictured in the first post you will not find anywhere as a commercially available item. Support your local machinist!!!

Sheldon,

That's not an easily-found fastener these days as the head diameter is that normally found on a #12 screw of the same type. They were used on early '32s to attach the dash to the cowl before the hole size was enlarged from #10 to #12.
