1939-55 Ford 6 Volt Voltage regulator on Modlel A
Back in the day I used a voltage regulator on a Model A generator to eliminate having to adjust the third brush. The regulator was hidden. The third brush was removed and a wire lead from it to to the field (F) terminal on the regulator. The battery (B) terminal was lead to the battery through the normal model A wiring, and the generator (G) terminal was lead to the output terminal on the generator. The voltage regulator not only eliminated the need to adjust the third brush but did a better job of keeping the battery charged. The cutout was built into the regulator. The regulator was adjustable by bending some tabs connected to the springs for the coils.
Who else has done this?

My car came with a voltage regulator when I bought it over 40 years ago. I wouldn’t dream of changing it.

50 years ago my car came with a delco generator, regulator, 8 volt battery and I was push starting it a lot. It now has an A long generator, Tom Wessenberg EVR and no more push starting it! 50 years ago my problems where bad grounds bad wiring no internet for help.

The amperage ratings of the generator regulator have to match the generator, the generator fields have to be wired to match the regulator, some control field power, some ground
