Default 50 Ford Fresh Air Vents

I see cables open and close the fresh air vents on driver and passenger sides of the car. Where are these cables controlled from? I am not seeing a place in the dash or above the kick panels..
Thanks, Steve

One is to left of the steering column and the other is the vent selection on the heater control.....Mark

My 50 didn't come with a heater, the fresh air controls were on each side of the column.

That's what I was kind of wondering. Mine was missing a heater and a firewall plate over where the heater would be. I do have a heater that I am installing, additionally there was a plate on the column with 2 holes in it. This would be the location of both fresh air controls were there not a heater but now left one would be on the column and the right on the heater control under dash?

Correct, I added a heater to mine and now the right vent is controlled by the heater controls, the air passes through the heater coil so it will be warmer than the left. I have bought cut offs to put inline under the hood so I can use the right vent.

On mine I have used the right hole for my fan switch, I installed the same knob on both. I got the push pull switch from NAPA I think.

Look up heater parts in the Dennis Carpenter 49-51 Ford parts catalog. There is a good diagram of what is supposed to be there. Greg58-it looks like you are missing the air valve damper assembly. It deflects the fresh air either thru the heater or by passes the heater. Good luck with your projects!!

Correct, if you don't get every piece of the duct work you have to do what I did.

No problem, sometimes you have to work with what you have. I've noticed that the heater core still gets warm from heat transfer through the coolant on the return line, that's the reason for dual cutoffs under the hood. When it gets 95° here I need all the cool air I can get.

I should have a brick in their sidewalk with my name on it, I feel like I've spent enough to pay for one!

I know what you mean. When I got my '50 the heater control valve was in the wrong hose so hot coolant was always in the heater core. Sheesh!!
