king Pins
Anyone know of an old school mechanic in the Philadelphia area that can install King Pins correctly on a 1949 Ford Custom?

Re: king Pins
If your NAPA has a machine shop ask them, my local NAPA said they can.

Re: king Pins
Looks like a new superslide spring?
Hope you didn't trash can the spring covers. |

I have supersides reverse eye springs on my truck on the rear. Don't sh*tcan the covers, at least give them away for shipping cost. pay it forward as the young folks say. |

Re: king Pins
Two names come to mind Mickey's alignment and Carlsons. Mickey was ( I've been absent 20 years ) West Philly. Carlsons was Langhorne on what used to be Rte. 1. Should hope they are still in operation. I'm certain anyone associated with them could steer you straight.
As a kid I managed to do them on a '53, Then had to do it twice to get the fit right.

you need a local machine shop, and they could care less about a 49 Ford, they mic the pin and hone or ream the bushings to fit the pin.. so walk in any machine shop and just say here's the spindle with new bushings, and here's the pin, bushings needs to be honed or reamed to fit the pins.....Remember honing / reaming is high school freshman elementary. (stuff) and this has been done under a tree with a drill and a brake hone - lol its been done! Last edited by big job; 04-09-2019 at 08:05 AM. |
