headlights stopped working
Hey all,
Headlights on my 1930 Model A all of a sudden stopped working. Tail lights work, cowl lights show turns, horn works, car starts and drive. Is it a problem with the switch on a wheel or maybe headlights wiring shorted somewhere. Any suggestion how to approach it. Thanks Last edited by masipopa; 09-23-2020 at 09:06 PM. |

Re: headlights stopped working
I would start by checking the headlight switch located at the end of the steering column. It tends to get filled with 600w oil from the steering box leaking. Very poor design, IMO.

Yep, I agree. Just look at the wiring diagram for the switch position and start poking around with your trusty test light. I'm thinking there is an open somewhere and it could well be an oily contact.

If it was a short, you'd know it.. blown fuse if you have one installed, or melted wires.
I am assuming you lost both low and high beams. As others have mentioned, you may have a bad light switch. But first be certain you have a good ground to the headlight buckets and bar where it attaches to the fenders. |

As Y said, it is a poor design. Oh by the way, did I say I hate that oil sucking, work when I want, little wiring harness, horn-switch, lights switch, little witch. Last edited by old31; 09-25-2020 at 03:36 AM. |
