Default Gunmetal Blue?

Hi! I have the Mid section of would be a 1928 phaeton and found the original color under some layers!
I think is that greenish Gunmetal Blue color from factory!
Someone can confirm this? Many thanks in advance!!

Chassis number from November 1928!
But under the greenish paint you could see a black paint too? Did Ford use primer paint?
I'm a little confusing with the paint finishes!!!

It's a RHD phaeton from Argentina!! So in Argentina this cars were assembled!! Maybe the parts from the factory came with a base coat to prevent rust?
You know maritime shipping, salt water!!

I don't think it is Dawn Gray. It is hard to tell the bluish colors apart due to fading since Ford used 3 blues in 1928 - Gunmetal Blue, Niagara Blue dark and Niagara Blue light. If you can find any remnants of the pinstripe, Gunmetal Blue used Straw as the pinstripe color, and all the other colors used French Gray.

I have a early '31 Tudor built in Seattle and I have the exact same paint colors as you! Black under the same green blue under a bright blue. I decided on painting mine all black.

Rusty, you are correct, ..it is not Gunmetal or Dawn Gray as they both are a greenish tint. That picture above is of Niagara & Duchess. Below is a picture of a Phaeton we did a couple of years ago in that combination;

This is Gunmetal and Dawn Gray;

So the car is from Argentina. Who says the colours available were the same as in the US? Model Ts , we're told, were only available in black. Here, there was a choice of about 6 colours. Argentina may very well have had their own colour range like we did years earlier.

Ford Motor Argentina was founded in Buenos Aires in 1913.
Its first products were Model Ts assembled from "Complete Knock Down" (CKD) kits imported from Detroit and add a 20% of parts produced locally like Upholstery and tires.
Ford in Argentina began building cars in 1922, a stamping and assembly factory was inaugurated in “La Boca”
In 1927 at the plant "La Boca" came the Ford "T" number 100,000.
The paint colours available in 1928 were the same as in the US.
My First model A ford was a “Niagara blue” 1928 Phaeton, and the colour was the same like painted in US.

Here you have a pair of "La Boca"assembly plant photos

My 1928 Phaeton is Gunmetal Blue, which is quite green looking. Here is the original paint on my firewall. I cleaned the tank area old grime off with WD-40 and diesel fuel.
