Default Lower cowl patch panel info

I have had my 31' Town Sedan Murray body for a year now. When I bought it there was rust on the drivers side lower cowl panel.

I was hoping you guys could let me know what all is involved in patching it with the patch panel available from Brattons. I see that it involves trimming.

I will most likely be finding someone that can make the repair for me, but I still want to know as much as I can about the process. What is actually behind the panel if anything? What should they/I look out for when patching this piece of the car? If you have had it done, what was the approximate cost and time it took?

I'm just in the info gathering stage.
Thank's in advance.

I did it on my 29 Tudor.

IIRC, used a spot weld cutter to cut out some welds, then used the patch as a guide to cut. there was some bracing behind it which I cleaned up and treated(didn't snap a photo). Then fit the patch panel and cleco'ed it in to TIG weld the seam. I'm not a professional but took me about a day.

Once the seam was sanded, a skim coat of body filler primed and blocked it came out invisible

Thanks. Can this be done with the body on the car still?

I don't think so...I had to access the bottom as there was a spot weld there IIRC
