1930 Cabriolet side glass install
I have the side window chrome frames for the Cabriolet. It looks like the side window liner needs to be thinner than what I used on the windshield which was a rubber cork composite.
Also some window descriptions talk about using a rubber channel on the bottom with a rubber lip to keep rain out. Does anyone know the correct glass liner tape or rubber to use in the full frame side windows on the Cabriolet? Thanks |

Not an answer but just one comment. Be sure to use 3/16" glass (as original) and not 1/4"
Thin cork should work fine. As to the bottom, I have used the bedding with the lip...... either/or. |

Re: 1930 Cabriolet side glass install
Thanks for the comment. I had been told 1/4 inch and now wonder why did I buy that. I did not see this mentioned in standards. Were all Model A cabriolets or other cars side windows originally using 3/16 inch? I did get tempered glass as was told that is best for side windows, less chance of cracking like both of mine had.
thanks for any other advice someone may have. Do I need to send the 1/4 inch glass back? It seemed like it fit into the channel but with just thinner backing/liner rubber. |

Re: 1930 Cabriolet side glass install
Original was 3/16 or something "Close" back then
The interior of the channel is 5/16 so 1/4" really crowds it. Another factor is weight; 25% heavier than 3/16 and rough on the already flimsy wonders. I wouldn't use 1/4" |
