Door adjustment question
The driver door on my 1930 coupe is misaligned(?) The spacing between the trailing edge and the body is about 3/16" at the top, about 1/4" mid door, and about 1/2" at the bottom, The leading edge looks normal.
The passenger door looks about right to me, the margins are the same top to bottom, and the door closes nicely. Do the door hinges control how the door is adjusted for fit at the rear of the door, or should I be looking for something else? This is a head scratcher for me. Thanks Burt |

Re: Door adjustment question
the Barn is awash on explanations (and cures) of how the frame gets distorted on the driver's side over the years, where the steering gear and motor mounts are.

Re: Door adjustment question
I wonder if a latch move could help? If the top of the door is hitting rubber bumpers so it can't move in any more, then moving the latch (at midway) 1/8" inward should pull the bottom of the door 1/4" inward.
Start by just pushing inward on the bottom rear of the door and see if it easily moves inward at least 1/4". |
