Default Pick up engine #

Did the engine numbers on 30,31 close cab pick ups start with*A or *AA ?
My pick up engine has a *AA.
Is or was a close cab pickup considered a commercial vehicle?

Any chance it has a 4 speed transmission? If not, the number should start with A. You are probably just looking at an engine change.

As a teenager, my '31 Fordor had an "AA" engine in it when I sold it. (It also had the AA radiator and shell). Of course, I put all that stuff in it since it didn't have either one when I bought it. I just put in it whatever I had or could find easily.

Years ago I bought some remains of a model A van which was on the regular 103 1/2" WB .The original title info for frame and engine number was AA which which would mean it was factory fitted with the 4 speed. I think this van was most likely a post office van with a wireline winch from the PTO . The title included gross weight which indicated that it was not a full sized AA truck . This was for a English Manchester built van just wondered if USA built commercial vehicles on an A chassis with the 4 speed were also designated AA.
