Water pump question
What is the "nub" on the water pump that is circled on the attached picture? Is it a grease point?

Re: Water pump question
yes it is, but replacement leakless style pumps have a sealed rear bearing which is non grease able and a dummy fitting

Re: Water pump question
Yes, for the rear bushing. I use water water soluble grease on that one so if it happens to leak into the water system it will not turn into globules that clog the tubes.

Re: Water pump question
The original cap could be removed and the Ford grease gun (with it's now unusual cone fitting) would fit the cone underneath. Later versions of these designed for the aftermarket have the more common ball top grease zerk fitting.
The brass cap should be replaced - although a modern grease zerk might work as a check valve to prevent water from issuing from the hole. Shouldn't do more than one small squirt perhaps yearly, or monthly if driven daily. Joe K
