Default Ford V8 Sump

I wonder what model V8 that this unusual sump fits.

Just a guess but based on what I see in the pic's, it looks like the bottom of the pan has been distorted by lifting with a jack or being set on a hard surface.

The smooth sided center sump came on '49-'51 Ford cars, while the ribbed center sump came on '52-'53 Fords and Mercurys.

It's not unusual to see the right hand side of a New Zealand v8 sump "bashed in". It is a "
number 8 wire solution"to the old problem of getting the starter motor to clear the steering box when removing it from a right hand drive car. for the information of non Kiwis, here it is said you can solve any problem with a bit of number 8 fencing wire.
