Michael, some of the engine building guru's who post here also say that special threaded plug is not that important, but I've always made sure the correct plug went into any FH engine I have from 35 to 48 and also any engines I've built in those same years. My theory is the same as Brian's on this plug.... Henry would not have wasted even a fraction of a cent on a part like this unless it served some purpose, and it may even serve more than one purpose. I'd suggest putting the correct plug in those engines you are building. I have a few extra if you need one, or two.
