Thanks for the slides Mr. Bidonde. I use a bolt from the hardware store to accomplish what Bob shows in his graphic. I learned to do this here on the forum a couple years back.

A 1/2" x 20 threads x 1" bolt, can be threaded into the upper carb half where the filter screen normally resides. If you run a side mounted oil filter, it must be 3/4" long. The fuel line, ferrule and fitting can then be inserted and held up against this bolt as the fitting is tightened until the ferrule is permanently seated onto the line and in its proper place. Loosen the ferrule fitting a bit and remove the bolt.

Of course the bolt size matches the filter screen threads.
