Re; Pre Lube with the Dizzy out gets oil pressure up
With the distributor out there would be no way to get the pressure up. This is a very low pressure system which relies on oil flow to the mains from the valve gallery and splash from the inside to rods cam etc. That is why you add a qt of oil thru the hole the dist sits in so the gallery has a supple of oil to mains. Don't over fill, the system holds approx 5 qt of oil BONE dry. Drain and add total of 4 qt to start with. After running check and adjust. When you install the dip stick make sure it is seated all the way to the loop, not sitting on the short extension under the loop.
