I have an original copy of the "1940 Service Data Handbook" which was in the glovebox of a low mileage (33,000) '40 my Dad bought from the original owner in1989. The "Lubrication and Maintenance Chart" reads the same as yours except for the heading at the top of the page. Mine reads "Mercury, Deluxe Ford V8, Ford V8 & Ford Commercial". So they printed the same information in at least two different manuals. What's interesting in my manual is that in the illustration showing component locations, there is no "C" pointing to the fan, just generator and distributor.
