PVC works for me. A friend gave me a "U" shape tool similar to a two tined cooking fork that will hold the Nozzle in the fill position no matter how it sits on the filler neck. I forget to use it most of the time as I grab the PVC fitting and just press the nozzle against it. No protection from a static spark, but 20 years and no problem. I think the static spark is about as apt to happen as a bird dropping a lighted ember on the neck while filling. May learn better tho.
