The old three pole units had a pretty good buzz to them when they were in operation so they set them up to be mounted with rubber vibration isolator cushions. This meant that they would have to be grounded in a different way so they added a grounding terminal. They used these up into the early 50s but they all went to a straight solid mounting after that. The 1941 Ford cars would have had the 01A-10505-C regulator originally. It could have been replaced by a 51A-10505-A or an 8A-10505-A over the years. All of them are good units.

If a person already has one, they could check into getting in repaired.
