Now that I think about it, doesn't the Merc plate have a reinforcing bracket with three bolt holes in it that goes to the oil pan? Other than that, are they functionally the same?

I ask because I have a few of these sitting in a pile and one of these days I want to get them sorted out and properly paired up (various post-48 bellhousings and starter plates).
