I'm from Southern Illinois, 50 miles east of St. Louis. Nashville, Illinois is where I live. I drive an hour and a half to attend meetings in Chesterfield, Missouri.
You could email each club and ask them questions about how active they are and what kinds of tours and activities they host.

Yes, I noticed that the Arlington Heights group seems to be very active, but not very close. Of the others, Knoxville is the closest, at only about 50 miles. I need to try to call the listed leader of that group. The directory doesn't list an e-mail.
I know well where Nashville is. I was stationed at Scott AFB for three years in the late 90s. We enjoyed our time in the area.
