Sam Walton was baby boomer from the WWI era. He grew up during the depression and they had to move a lot after they left the family farm. His father was in the mortgage & insurance business with his brother and was the guy who likely foreclosed on a lot of the grapes of wrath farmers of that era. That's probably why they moved around so much. Walmart is a product of Sam Walton and the American consumer.
