I have always used exhaust manifold gaskets on both my 292 engines and never had a crack in any of the manifolds. I have always used the truck intake manifold gaskets (they have the small round hole for the heat riser passage). My intake manifolds were cleaned and painted with ford red/orange engine paint decades ago and all the red paint is still there. If you use the intake manifold gaskets for the car engine (with large square hole in the middle), the red paint on the heat riser passage will burn completely off very quickly.
