I would assume that your car is a right side steering car. that being the case the hoses should be on the left side of the cowl.
The standard heater for a '30 model Ford is the hot air, manifold heater. Many people did not like the hot air heaters because of the risk of exhaust fumes leaking into the system, then into the passenger compartment. Many company's made universal mount hot water heaters.

Some people liked to place the hot water heaters in the center of the firewall, the location of the floor shift can obstruct the heater. Locating the heater on the passenger side of the firewall works well if a small heater like the '39-40 Ford heater is used, the common style of aftermarket heaters generally are to large for the passenger side.
For your information I have attached a pix of a '39-40 Ford heater in my '36 Ford.
