The problem with running it backwards like that is that you have nothing filtering the air that's going in at the bottom so you can suck in anything that's being kicked up by the front right tire that's right there - dirt, dust, mud, water. Not good. That's why there's a filter on the oil filler cap that has to be cleaned every 1,000 miles - 'cause that's where the air goes in, not where it comes out.
