Another possibility: if you had the starter off and was reinstalled with incorrect bolts (too long), the flywheel will contact them.
When you push the clutch in the flywheel can move forward slightly depending on the condition of the thrust washer on the crank.

I had this problem also. Turned out the pressure plate adjusting bolts were striking the clutch spring flanges. This was caused by too much slop in the clutch pedal linkages. Got that fixed and also used the other style clutch disk that doesn't have the flanges around the springs.
