I broke a 2 piece universal joint at the rivet.
I felt the vibration before stopping, when I started to drive forward from a dead stop the torque rotated the joint half on the remaining rivet. This locked up the entire drivetrain. I thought I dropped a gear locking the trans or sheared something in the spider gears. This was a frustrating but cheaper alternative, hope you find a similar easy fix.
