Thanks for the replies, I kind of thought it might have to do with the rubber ball as there has to be some play in that assembly due to the flex in the rubber. I picked up a spare wishbone with a pretty nice steel ball this summer and might try to replace the one in the car and would likely also replace the spring perch assemblies as well. They say they can be a bear to remove.
