They used bolts witt nuts to attach reinforcements to our bridge that crosses the Ottawa River between Ontario and Quebec. The bridge was originally built between 1898 and 1900 and was done so using steel girders and rivets. It is as fugly as hell, and I'm sure if there was a choice to use rivets they would have. Driving red hot rivets into steel is a lost art in my opinion.
